Mandatory Helmet Laws Opposed By MRF

The Motorcycle Rider Foundation opposes mandatory helmet laws lobbied by NTSB.
November 20, 2007

US - The Motorcycle Rider Foundation (MRF) has been working the past several weeks to address the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) program to have states enact mandatory helmet laws, according to a MRF press release.

The MRF launched its Motorcycle Safety Action Plan to encourage state motorcycle rights organizations to send their lobbying teams to Washington, D.C., to voice opposition to the NTSB’s lobbying efforts. They’re also asking members of Congress to write letters directly to the NTSB to oppose the issue.

The MRF says the NTSB is proposing to directly lobby the states with federal tax money based on poorly drawn conclusions and not employing the strictness in which they normally conduct their research.
